When Lady Gaga got together with Tony Bennett to record a song for the new album “Duets II” they did a little more than just sing together. Apparently, nude artwork is also part of Bennett’s recording process. Bennett sketched Lady Gaga nude and now the 18 x 24 charcoal painting is going up for auction. The nude Lady Gaga painting had a starting bid of $5000 when the auction started today. At the moment, the price is already up to $7700. (The reserve still hasn’t been met.) The eBay auction, which you can bid on here, will end on December 19th. All proceeds from the sale of Bennett’s painting will go to Tony Bennett's charity, Exploring the Arts, and Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation.

Many gamers haven’t even had the opportunity to play Star Wars: The Old Republic yet, but that isn’t stopping EA and BioWare from sharing their plans for the future of the soon-to-be-released MMO. In a post over on the SWTOR website, game director James Ohlen revealed what sort of new content and improvements fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic can expect at some point after the game officially launches on December 20. "It is fair to say that we're just as excited as you are about the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic," said Ohlen. "Not only are we launching one of the largest and most impressive games ever created, but we're also excited about the prospect of continuing to work on the game so that you, the fans, will always have something heroic and amazing to enjoy." Among the upcoming content Ohlen outlined in the post are enhanced UI options, enhanced PVP, solo and group content, guild banks and more. Mitt Romney hasn’t been having a good week. After a rough exchange with a Vietnam vet over gay rights, Romney’s campaign is now catching criticism for using the phrase “keep America American.” Why? Well, because it’s a phrase that was used by the Klu Klux Klan in the 1920s and the Know Nothing Party in the 1800s. The Huffington Post reports that the Know Nothing Party used “Keep America American” as a rally cry against immigration and Catholics. The Klu Klux Klan used the phrase in a similar fashion in the 1920s to rally people against blacks, gays, Jews, and Catholics. In a recent piece in the LA Times, Romney said:
It doesn’t quite have the same meaning that it did in the past. Right? Here’s a Romney campaign ad where he uses the phrase “keep America American.” It isn’t likely that Romney purposefully chose to borrow a phrase from the Klu Klux Klan, but that isn’t stopping some people from calling Rommey a racist. The AmericaBlog, which first pointed out the significance of “Keep America American,” says that it’s only fair to call Romney a Klansman since the Republican party insists that President Obama is a socialist. Alcohol is still the most popular drug for teenagers, but according to a recent study, it may not be for long. Alcohol use has dropped to an historic low with teenagers, while marijuana use continues to rise. The National Institute on Drug Abuse recently surveyed 47,000 teens. The study found that marijuana use among teens rose for the fourth consecutive year. According to the report, one in every 15 high school seniors smokes marijuana on a daily basis. Lloyd Johnston, the study’s principal investigator, told The Associated Press:
The drug survey, which has been conducted since the 1970s, also asked teenagers about synthetic marijuana use. It was the first time that the question was on the survey, but a surprisingly high number of teens said that they have tried synthetic pot. According to the survey, one in nine teenagers have used synthetic marijuana. White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said:
Alcohol, while it still reigns supreme as the drug of choice for teenagers, has been declining since the 1980s. This year, only 40% of high school students said that they had drank alcohol in the last thirty days. This is the lowest percentage since the survey started in the 1970s. One would think that in our modern world things like slavery would be relegated strictly to our history book but unfortunately it isn’t. In fact slavery is very much alive in our world with an estimated 27 million people around the world to be considered as slaves. Even though we may yank Google’s chain about the tarnishing of their once proud motto “do not evil” the fact is the company is heavily involved in many philanthropic endeavors through it Google.org philanthropic arm with the fight against modern day slavery being one. In order to help with the fight Google selects organizations it believe to have proven records in this area and this year the company has donated $11.5 million to a group of organizations fighting slavery, To lead its efforts in this area Google selected Washington-based International Justice Mission which is a human rights organization working globally to rescue victims of slavery and sexual exploitation. Jacquelline Fuller, the director of charitable giving and advocacy at Google says that we would be surprised by the number of people that are trapped in slavery to the degree that there are more people in slavery now than at any other time of our history.

The 203-grain pear-shaped 16th-century pearl, regarded as one of the most famous pearls in the world, was expected to sell for up to $3 million but ended up bringing in $11.8 million – the highest amount any pearl has ever fetched at an auction. Discovered off the Gulf of Panama in the 1500s, the pearl is believed to have once belonged to King Philip II of Spain and later to Spanish queens Margaret and Elizabeth. The latter wore it when Velasquez painted her 17th-century portrait. According to Bloomberg, Richard Burton, the former husband of the late Taylor, picked up priceless gemstone at an auction in 1969 for $37,000, after successfully outbidding a member of the Spanish royal family. In addition to La Peregrina (seen below), the Christie’s auction, titled “The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor,” featured an array of designer gowns, paintings and jewelry collections that was owned by the late actress. The exclusive collection had been forecast to fetch around $50 million by the auction house.
Instead, the gems alone achieved more than that on the first night, and by the evening’s end the entire 80-item lot raked in a total of $116 million, becoming the most valuable private collection of jewels sold at the auction, beating the 1987 sale of the Duchess of Windsor’s pieces in Geneva. Moore said today that she is keeping the Twitter handle of @Mrskutcher for the time being, but it isn’t because she is having a hard time with letting her ex go. Nope, she just has a few more important things on agenda at the moment. Moore tweeted today:
Ever since Moore announced that she was going to divorce Kutcher over his affair with Sarah Leal, the Twitterverse has been wondering if Moore would decide to ditch her Twitter name. Iran is really asking for it…it being access to the United States stealth drone RQ-170 it managed to get last week/ Russian and Chinese sent military intelligence teams to Tehran for access but it seems as if the Iranians wanted much more. Israeli Intelligence website DEBKA is reporting that the price being asked for by Revolutionary Guards leader Gen. Ali Jaafari includes advanced nuclear and solid fuel missile technology. In addition, Tehran sought expertise on centrifuges for enriching uranium to weapons grade and the immediate transfer of Russian made S-300PMU-1 air defense systems. The S-300PMU-1 air defense system is capable of shooting down stealth warplanes and cruise missiles and would give Iran a huge advantage if the US or Israel decided to proceed with a military strike on Iran’s nuclear sites. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sent his Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who is originally from Russia, to Moscow speak Prime Minister Vladimir Putin about the danger of letting Iran have the S-300 batteries. Intelligence Sources in Washington report that Netanyahu consulted with the highest echelon of US leaders before sending Leiberman. The Russian prime minister, although cordial denied any deal with Iran and refused to discuss the issue further. At the conclusion of the meeting, Lieberman told reporters “Russia’s positions on the Middle East were not helpful.”. According to reports, American officials were no more successful in trying to press the matter with Russia’s president. Washington and Jerusalem have information that the Russians may have played role in Iran’s capture of the RQ-17o, and may have even supplied Iran with the electronics necessary for bringing down the US stealth drone undamaged. Here in America, the Brits are like our cool older brothers, with fancier words, cooler rock bands and a bad ass accent that always makes us feel like poor Southern cousins. If you asked any American to define an English person, you’d probably get lots of answers about the Queen, or the Beatles, or James Bond, or other stuff we think is a bit more high-class than our folksy culture. Which is why a lot of people today have been amused and surprised by what seems to be a rather rude easter egg or Google bomb on the part of Google when you search for the phrase “define an English person.” The search results probably won’t get you kicked out of work or set you down on the wrong side of safe search parameters- no shocking or awful images pop up, for instance, but the first entry is actually a word that is a bit of a point of contention between English speaking cultures. In some, it’s a general swear, used comically and while not always in polite company, not one that will cause people to clutch their pearls. (If I understand correctly.) In others, it’s one of the gravest insults you can sling at a woman in particular, a crude word for the female anatomy that elicits shocks and gasps from pretty much anyone when used outside the context of BDSM relationships. Elvis monkeys, psychedelic geckos, and now a jumping cockroach. A cockroach that jumps, called the leaproach, was recently discovered in South Africa by entomologists at the University of Cape Town. According to a report in Biology Letters, the recently discovered insect doesn’t scuttle like a roach. Instead, it leaps like a grasshopper. The report reads:
NPR reports that despite the fact that a leaproach is less than an inch big, it can travel more than 20 inches in a single jump, which is more than 50 times its body length. Here’s a video of the leaproach in action. The Global Post reports that the leaproaches hind legs are twice the length of its other legs and make up for more than 10% of its body weight. Dr. Mike Picker, an entomologist at the University of Cape Town, told the New York Times:

According to US Weekly, the Tebow-Vonn dating rumors began last week, when Lindsey was photographed “Tebowing” after winning the World Cup Super-G at Beaver Creek on Wednesday.
After setting the story straight, Vonn was then spotted in the Tebow family box during Sunday’s Broncos game, but her rep said not to read anything into it. Following Sunday’s game, Vonn,27, wrote in the Denver Post that she got to know Tebow at the ESPY's, and they spent more time together at other events. She also knows most of his family now, Vonn wrote.

A massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy called Sagittarius A* is about to consume a giant cloud of gas. Scientists are hoping that the cosmic feast will shed light on how black holes consume celestial objects. Physorg.com reports that many, if not all galaxies have a massive black hole at their center. Sagittarius A* is the only black hole close enough for scientists to study. Eliot Quataert, a theoretical astrophysicist and University of California, Berkeley professor of astronomy, said:
Space.com reports that the massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way contains about 4.3 million times the mass of the sun. The black hole is constantly pulling at objects in the Milky Way but according to Stefan Gillessen, an astronomer at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, it is very rare for the black hole to actually consume and destroy something. Gillessen said:
Scientists around the world will watch as the giant glass cloud is sucked into the black hole over the next two years. The BBC reports that the cloud will soon pass the point of no return and has already started to elongate as it nears the black hole. Gillesen adds:

The struggling door-to-door cosmetics company said Tuesday it has launched a search for CEO candidates outside the company. Once it settles on one, Ms. Jung will step aside and serve solely as the organization’s full-time executive chairman. Jung currently serves as both chairman and CEO at Avon. According to the NY Post, Avon’s move follows a disastrous October earnings report, in which the company admitted it faces two probes by regulators: one over its communications with analysts and a second on allegations that it broke bribery laws overseas. At the time, Jung was asked by analysts:
Citigroup analyst Wendy Nicholson chimed in saying the company is “so totally screwed up in so many ways, the change has to be radical”. Jung replied: “Look, the buck stops with me.”

A representative for former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has confirmed to E! News that the singer and onetime Broadway star has given birth to a baby boy in her home state of North Carolina. Barrino is mom to 10-year-old daughter Zion, and the 27-year-old reality TV star found herself back in the news and in gossip columns when it was reported that her home might be foreclosed upon. Barrino again made headlines in the summer of 2010, when she was implicated in an acrimonious North Carolina divorce amid talk she might run afoul of her state’s alienation of affection laws. (Also known as “home wrecker laws.”) The singer was accused of luring married Antwaun Cook away from his wife Paula, even taunting the spurned woman by phone, allegedly saying:
Barrino escaped further legal tangles over the alleged affair, but the drama could be why the former AI star was so reluctant to dish to talk show host Wendy Williams in October about the identity of her soon-to-be-born baby. When asked if she still was involved with Cook, Barrino answered:

| NYC Elevator Accident Leaves One Dead Posted: 14 Dec 2011 01:10 PM PST
According to CBS News, the freak accident occurred around 10am in a 26-story office tower near Grand Central Terminal that has been the longtime home of advertising agency Y&R, formerly known as Young & Rubicam. The victim, identified as 41-year-old Y&R executive Suzanne Hart, had stepped halfway into the elevator when it started to ascend to the second floor with the doors still open. She was reportedly then pinned between floors and was crushed when the elevator took off before she was fully able to enter the car, local authorities said in a statement.
The official added that two additional people who were on the elevator were taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for psychological trauma but weren’t physically harmed during the accident.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Suzanne Hart was the Director of New Business, Content and Experience at Y&R, where she had worked since 2007. She was a 1988 graduate of Palos Verdes High School in Calif. and she earned a BA in Fine Art and International Relations from Knox College. Following the tragedy, Y&R chief executive Peter Stringham said the company is "deeply, deeply saddened to confirm that one of our employees has died" and called the elevator accident "a great emotional shock" in a statement put out Wednesday afternoon. China insists the aircraft carrier is being developed for research and training, its development raises eyebrows in Washington due to China’s increasingly advanced military and their aggressive posturing towards Taiwan and other areas of the South China Sea. China has been increasingly aggressive in the pursuit of getting Taiwan to rejoin with mainland China, a move which most Taiwanese people reject. Taiwan has been developing missiles capable of striking an aircraft carrier. China has been slowly rising tensions with Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam and South Korea which all have the explicit backing of American Naval power in the area. China has defended its carrier program as other countries are far more advanced than them in their development or have just purchased carriers from other governments. Regional rival India purchased US carriers more than a decade ago. While in the future China’s carrier program could be a threat to the United States Naval Power it will be many years before they can pose a significant threat. The US currently has 11 carrier battle groups which stand on the cutting edge of military technology. Russia started building the carrier before the collapse of the Soviet Union. It called the carrier program the Varyag but never completed its development. China bought the ship from the Ukraine, which had acquired it from Russia in 1998 and spent years building it. The delay comes after a group of 21 senators, led by Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, asked the USPS for time to allow Congress to pass needed reforms to protect the tens of thousands of jobs nationwide and put the organization on a sustainable path.
The USPS said it would hold off any closures until May 15, 2012. Earlier this year, the service said it may close 252, or more than half, its mail-processing plants, 3,700 (12 percent) post offices and end Saturday mail delivery. In all, roughly 100,000 postal employees could be cut as a result of the various closures, resulting in savings of up to $6.5 billion a year. During the six months, while Congress works on reforms, the USPS will continue its study on the impact of closures and costs. Ashton Kutcher mistress Sara Leal is speaking out about being the “other woman” in Ashton’s life during his marriage to Demi Moore and she says the alleged fling at a California hotel is ruining her life. According to Leal in an interview with US Weekly:

Leal also reveals that after the affair was made public her own father refused to talk to her and she began receiving some very disturbing phone calls, even from some of her friends’ parents. Leal has since been fired from her job (she started working again three weeks ago) and her roommate and now former best friend will no longer talk to her, forcing Leal to move out of her shared apartment. Terrell Owens is an out of work NFL free agent and while he may not be making any extra money at the moment he might soon be forced to pay out $35,000 in unpaid child support. The former Cincinnati Bengals player was slapped with court papers this week by three women; Melanie Paige Smith, Samelia Millier and Kimberly Floyd. Melanie says in her court filing that Owens has failed to pay her a recent $5,000 monthly payment and she claims he also missed two other payments in 2011. Joining in the court battle are Samelia Miller and Kimberly Floyd who claim that Owens owes them a combined $30,000. Smith filed her lawsuit in George and her lawyer, Randall M. Kessler said in a statement regarding the lawsuit:
According to Kessler the last time he tried to serve Owens he was in Atlanta shooting a TV show, after being served by a processor Owens flew to LA but never once visited with his daughter. Each of the women are suing Owens in separate lawsuits. It should be noted that Terrell Owens could be reaching closer to bankruptcy after he was forced to sell his Dallas condo for$350,000 less than he paid for the $1.95 million home he purchased just three years earlier.
